Low-Spend Goal January 15, 2012

I have so much food at home it’s not funny. Mainly meat that I’ve bought in bulk on special and never gotten around to eat. Enter the “low-spend” challenge! It’s a “low-spend” rather than “no-spend” as I’ll still need to buy milk, bananas, tea bags and maybe cat food. But I have plenty of food for lunches and dinners to cover the next 3 weeks. I have a tendency to go to the store for one item and come out with piles of reduced meat and pasta sauce. I know I’ll use them eventually, but when it happens every week you start to accumulate quite a stock pile! And now there’s no room in the freezer. I also have masses of potatoes in the garden to dig up and use.
I’m hoping to boost my EF to around $900 with the savings. I’m also going to put $50 aside into my “credit card” account and see how my idea works. At least it should stop me dipping into my savings proper and stop those guilty feelings when I do. When I do dip in, it’s usually $50 that I take out.
